Go to Settings → Subscription and click "Add Homeschool Manager".
Navigate to Homeschool → Settings and create your first school year (e.g., "2025-2026").

Go to the Attendance tab in Homeschool Manager. Select a date and mark each student as Present, Absent, Late, or Excused with one tap.

From the Lesson Plans tab, click the add button.
Select subject, enter title (e.g., "Chapter 5: Fractions"), set date and duration.
Optionally note textbook pages, worksheets, or supplies needed.
Lesson plans are displayed in a full 7-day weekly calendar (Monday through Sunday). Each day shows planned lessons color-coded by subject. Check off lessons as you complete them.
Use the navigation arrows to plan ahead or review past weeks:
View the previous week.
Jump back to the current week.
View upcoming weeks to plan in advance.
Lesson is scheduled but not started yet.
Lesson was taught and finished.
Lesson was intentionally skipped (will reschedule).
When creating or editing a lesson plan, select which student it is for. This allows each child to see their own lessons on their Earner Dashboard.
Select a specific child from the dropdown. Only they will see this lesson.
Select "All Students" to create a copy of the lesson for each child.
Students can mark their own lessons complete from their Earner Dashboard. This is how they check off work as they finish it.
Go to Settings and make sure each earner has a PIN set. They need this to log into their dashboard.
From the main dashboard, tap the student avatar or use the Earner Login page. Enter the PIN to access the Earner Dashboard.
Today's assigned lessons appear in a "Today's Lessons" section. Tap the checkmark to mark a lesson complete.
Customize which days are school days for each student and set vacation dates to freeze streaks during breaks.
By default, school days are Monday through Friday. You can change this per student to match your family schedule.
In the Student Comparison table, find the student row and click the calendar (📅) button.
Check or uncheck each day of the week. For example, select Sunday through Friday for a six-day week.
Click Save. Tasks will now only appear on the days you selected.
Going on vacation? Set dates so your kids do not lose their streaks while away.
In the Student Comparison table, click the palm tree (🏖️) button next to the student name.
Enter the start and end dates for the vacation period.
During vacation, streaks freeze. No tasks are required and no streaks are lost.
When a student is on vacation, their status shows "🏖️ Vacation" instead of task counts.
Streaks pause during vacation and resume when vacation ends. No lost progress.
If today is not a school day (based on custom school days), status shows "📅 Off Day".
How do I enable Homeschool Manager?
Go to Settings → Subscription and click "Add Homeschool Manager". You need an active Plus subscription first. Pre-launch trial users get free access.
Can I use Homeschool Manager without the point system?
Yes! Use Simple Mode to hide points and focus purely on homeschool tracking. Go to Settings → Display Mode → Simple Mode.
Do I need to set up a school year first?
It is recommended but not required. School years help organize your data and make reports more meaningful.
Can I have multiple grading periods per school year?
Yes! Create as many grading periods as you need - quarters, semesters, trimesters, or custom periods.
What is the difference between manual and auto-logging?
Manual logging: You click "Log Time" and enter the duration. Auto-logging: Link a recurring task to a subject with a time value - when the task is completed, time is logged automatically.
Can multiple students use Homeschool Manager?
Absolutely! Each earner (student) has their own time logs and grades. Use the Student Comparison view to see everyone progress side-by-side.
Is attendance tracking required?
It depends on your state. Many states require attendance records. Check your state homeschool laws. Even if not required, attendance records are useful for co-ops and umbrella schools.
Can I backfill attendance for past days?
Yes! Change the date picker to any past date and mark attendance retroactively.
Do I have to plan every lesson in advance?
No! Lesson plans are optional. Use them if you want structure, or skip them if you prefer a flexible approach. The tool adapts to your style.
Can I assign lessons to specific students?
Yes, each lesson plan can optionally be assigned to a specific student, or left unassigned for all students.
Can I export my data?
Yes! Reports can be printed directly from the app. Time summaries, grade reports, report cards, and transcripts all have print functionality.
Does this meet my state requirements?
Homeschool Manager helps you track hours and generate reports, but you are responsible for understanding and meeting your state specific requirements. Laws vary significantly by state.
